HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

God loves you more than you could ever imagine. Because of his great love for you, God wants you to experience a fantastic life, both now and forever. The Bible says:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

The life that God offers is a life of peace that is full of purpose. There is just one thing that keeps people from experiencing life in all its fullness—sin. No matter how good you are, the Bible says:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

God loves you in spite of your sin, but sin separates you from God and the life that he wants you to have. But because of his love, Jesus Christ came to bring you forgiveness by paying the penalty for your sin. The Bible says:

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

Christ died for you and rose again from the grave so that you could experience new life in him. When you receive Christ and the life that he offers by putting your complete trust in him, then you become a Christian, a member of God's family. The Bible says:

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

If you are ready to become a child of God by accepting his gift of eternal life, then you can receive Jesus Christ right now through prayer. Just speak to the Lord in your heart and commit yourself to him by praying a prayer like this:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for loving me and offering life to me. I know that I am a sinner and I don't deserve your love, but you love me anyway. I believe that you died in my place and rose again to pay the penalty for my sin so I could receive your forgiveness. Thank you for giving me new life and for making me your child. I now turn from my sin and give you complete control over my life. Help me to always follow you. Amen.
